Criteria	Method
1. gather data to verify the existence of a problem including data on customer perceptions and desires	design projects
2. construct a problem statement and solution criteria
3. generate ideas for possible solutions (e.g., use sketching, brainstorming, and other techniques)
4. select the most appropriate solutions based on solution criteria
5. select and document the solution to be recommended
6. collect feedback for continuous improvement
