A. STUDENT PERFORMANCE GOALS
6. Increased flexibility and competence in using modern technology effectively for analysis, design, and communication.

6A. Analysis Performance Objectives:
"Given a problem which can be analysed through the use of technological tools, the students will be able to sue appropriate technological tools to analyze the problem."
Criteria Method
1. display a working knowledge of technological tools or display the ability to gain that knowledge faculty assessment
  • standardized task

  • regular in-class & out-of-class exercises

  • in-class quizzes (group & individual)
2. use technology to analyze solutions to the engineering problem
3. develop an acceptable interpretation of the analysis
4. apply appropriate criteria to select an analysis technique that is useful and appropriate

6B. Design Performance Objectives:
"Given a design problem, the students will be able to use the computer to stimulate and validate a system being designed."
Criteria Method
1. check component interfaces for compatibility and design feasibility
  • faculty assessment

  • standardized assessment task

  • process check incorporated in design project
2. integrate diverse knowledge of fundamentals with system component selection, using appropriate technology, including analytical results, manufacturers' catalogs, and network databases
3. develop and maintain a design database that can be used by others charged with constructing and implementing a design
4. explain how to use the results in an applied setting/situation

6C. Communication Performance Objectives:
"Given communication situations which can be performed using technological tools, the students will be able to use appropriate technological tools to communicate effectively."
Criteria Method
1. employ appropriate and necessary technological tools
  • aculty assessment

  • e-mail

  • CAD

  • electronic presentations
2. be able to adapt to unfamiliar technology for the development of communication protocols
3. use industry/professional documentation standards
4. use technology to effectively communicate results
