details

MACCEP was founded in October 2004 following a series of state-wide meetings supported by the Michigan Department of Education and Michigan Department of Career Development. Current membership includes 14 community colleges and six universities. MACCEP will sponsor a general membership meeting every Fall (MACCEP Learning Exchange) for the purpose of updating members on organizational initiatives and providing a platform for sharing best practices, research interests and concerns about policy issues. A Day of Dialogue is sponsored every spring, including members of the state departments of education and K-12 or regional school personnel. This conference provides guest speakers for update on national and state policy affecting teacher/parapro education as well as reports on MACCEP initiatives. A key part of every conference is a focused dialogue among participants on issues of mutual concern such as: articulation, state standards, assessment, model programs, etc. Our 2006 conference will address: "Teacher Education: Recruitment, Persistence, Employment."
