summary

Normandale Community College in Bloomington, Minnesota, has recently added this new degree in cooperation with Minnesota State University, Mankato. Students complete the A.S. degree on the Normandale campus. Faculty members from Mankato teach the upper division special education courses on the Normandale campus. Students will graduate with K-12 special education licensure.

details

There is a shortage of special education teachers in Minnesota. This 2+2 program will enable diverse and placebound students to get special education licensure. The program will allow students to complete their student teaching experiences in urban schools. Two new courses were added to the lower division curriculum: Individuals with Diverse and Exceptional Needs (4 credits), and Learning and Human Development for Diverse Learners (also 4 credits).
