Checking out the repositories

Well, out of the 26 Learning Objects that I identified as being potentially useful for building my course, I found four that were excellent that I would definitely use in this course (I was already using one of them in a different course :-))

I found that some of the objects were too young for my students while others were not interactive and contained information that my students would have in their textbook.

The objects that I liked the most were interactive, which would engage my students, and were inline with my learning objectives/course competencies. I found that the objects that were sponsored by the NSF or a university tended to be more original and more useful. I was disappointed that some of the objects were simply links to websites. Although useful, I did not consider them to be learning objects.

Now, I will start searching some of the other repositories. Four useful objects from MERLOT certainly is not a bad start...

Just links...

On the one hand, I agree with you that "just links" are not enough; however, if you frame those links with activities...I think they could be a great RLO!

Do you agree?
