Weekly Update

This week we opened registration for our Virtual Learnshop. The completely online course will cover what RLOs are, how you can search repositories, how to evaluate whether you've found an RLO you can use and how to develop a lesson around an RLO. The Learnshop will be facilitated by Donna and I and will have guest discussion board moderators. For more information and to register, visit our registration website.

Now, for the repository of the week... MERLOT

MERLOT is a learning object repository that houses ___ RLOs. The majority of the RLOs are granular - in that they cover very discrete concepts that you can add to your instruction.

Some of the features that I really like about MERLOT include:
1. You can create a free account that allows you toestablish a personal collections of RLOs. This is a great way to keep track of the RLOs that you would like to use.

2. You can view other users personal collections. I found through my experiences using MERLOT that people who added RLOs that I was interested in to their personal collections had a number of RLOs worth reviewing.

3. Many of the RLOs housed in MERLOT are peer reviewed. This is very useful to see what other instructors thought of the RLOs and how they used them.

Tune in next week to get an update on what Donna and I are working on and to learn about another RLO repository.
