NMC Conference: Pachyderm Update
Our regular Learning Object co-chair bloggers attended the 2005 NMC Summer Conference but are likely currently engaged in offline follow-up (the conference was in Hawaii ;-) but look here soon for some updates.
I just wanted to share what we heard at the session on Pachyderm. In a brief nutshell, if you are very interested in getting to use Pachyderm, sign up now to be on the next round of beta testing starting in July, visit the Pachyderm web site for more information. The software is supposed to be made publicly available October 2005, and between now and then we will be investigating how we can set up a server for use at Maricopa.
See some notes I took at the NMC 2005 conference session.
Pachy is coming!
Also, from the program, this session connected two of our groups!
Creating Electronic Portfolios to Promote Online Learning ObjectsMERLOT (Multimedia Educational Resource for Learning Online and Teaching) uses the KEEP Toolkit, developed by the Knowledge Media Lab of the Carnegie Foundation, to help designers of online learning materials create electronic portfolios that are rich contextual descriptions of teaching with technology. This workshop provides an overview of MERLOT, how to catalog learning resources and create portfolios using the Toolkit. Participants will have the opportunity to create intellectually rich, engaging and visually appealing e-portfolios that describe learning resources and how others might adapt or use them.
