Summer Happenings with the Co-Chairs!

A big Oahu "Mahalo" (thank you) to Alan for the Pachy Update from the NMC Conference.

Alan, Lisa and I attended the NMC conference in Honolulu. (Yes, tough to take BUT someone had to go....)
[lots of giggling in the background] :-)
So - there were LOTS of good sessions and I'm personally glad that I went as I won the iPod Shuffle at the Welcome Session!

Lisa and i will be blogging our notes from our sessions but wanted to let everyone know about the Thursday, August 11th Learnshop at Gateway Community College. As of this morning we have 7 participants and room for about 10 more. This Learnshop is "Creating Your Own Learning Object with Matchware Mediator 8.0"

Lisa and I are working hard to get things ready for this Fall's "Learning Objects" slate of activities.

Here's what's on tap for the Fall 2005 semester:

1. Thursday, August 11th, 9:00 am - 4:00 p.m.
Learnshop: "Creating Your Own Learning Object with Matchware Mediator 8.0" at Gateway Community College. One easy "click" to register!

2. Thursdays, September 8th & 15th, 1:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m.
Learnshop: "Creating Your Own Learning Objects with SoftChalk" at Gateway Community College. (participants must attend both days)

3. Saturdays, October 1st & 8th, 8:00 am - 12:00 p.m.
Learnshop: "Creating Your Own Learning Object with Matchware Mediator 8.0" at St. Mt. Community College (participants must attend both days)

========

We also plan to offer "RLO101 - Introduction to Reusable learning Objects", our virtual online course. This is NOT the same course as the Spring 2005 course. It has much of the same material but with some modifications from our experiences with the Spring course.

=======

Other things on the Learning Objects "Burner":

1. In conjunction with the "Savvy Cyber Professor" PT3 Project from the National Center for Teacher Education - the "Real World Learning Objects" a 8 session Professional Development series. E-mail Ray Ostos for details on this Project.

2. Our Learning Objects presentation at the League for Innovation in the Community Colleges Conference on Information Technology in Dallas on October 26th. Lisa and I will present "Stop Reinventing the Wheel and Share Your Best Instructional Resources: Reusable Learning Objects." This is based on the online presentation that we gave at the Hawaii TCC Online Conference last Spring.

3. We have submitted our presentation and are awaiting word on our acceptance for a "Learning Objects" presentation at the League for Innovation in the Community Colleges "Innovations" Conference in the Spring, 2006.

4. The Spring 2006 semester will be spent talking about, working with, and teaching Pachyderm from the New Media Consortium (NMC). This is an eagerly anticipated version 2.0 release of Pachyderm.
