RLO of The Month
I was challenged by a colleague to find a RLO that could be used in an HVAC (Heating, ventilation and air conditioning) class.
The Goal
It took me about 10 minutes to find the RLO, "The Effect of Temperature on the Vapor Pressure of a Liquid".
The Process
My first attempt was to search the RLO Repository MERLOT, but I did not have success finding an RLO there.
I then went to the RLO repository Wisconsin Online. I searched under the keyword "Heat" and a number of excellent and applicable RLOs popped up.
This particular RLO discuss what the heat of vaporization is and helps the students to calculate vapor pressure. It would be a great resource for students to use when they get home and start their homework as it goes through solving the problem step-by-step. It could also be used in a mathematics class.
Lessons Learned
Sometimes your initial search in a repository will not yield successful results but each repository speializes in certain types of RLOs so if at first you don't succeed in finding your RLO, try, try another repository.
