RLO101 - Running from October 3rd - December 2nd

Hello Maricopa Faculty!

Lisa and I are back with the very popular RLO101 Blackboard Learnshop. This online event has been approved for 5.0 Faculty Professional Growth hours.

There will be 3 Lessons and you have two months to put in your 5.0 hours of learning! The RLO101 Learnshop will begin on Monday, October 3rd and finish on Friday, December 2nd. The entire Learnshop is online in Blackboard. You will need to register first.

Here is the outline:

Lesson 1 - RLOs and Repositories
In this Lesson, you will look at RLO definitions and their examples and then identify RLO Repositories and their value.

Objectives
• You will be able to give a broad definition of a Reusable Learning Object (RLO).
• You will be able to define what a RLO Repository is.
• You will be able to access several RLO Repositories.
• You will be able to set-up a MERLOT account and a CAREO account.
• You will be able to describe the differences and similarities between a Search Engine and a RLO Repository.

Lesson 2 - Searching and Evaluating
In this Lesson, you will search for relevant RLOs to your instruction.

Objectives
• You will be able to search RLO Repositories by using a "Keyword" search strategy.
• You will be able to search RLO Repositories by using a "Directory" search strategy.
• You will evaluate the RLOs that you find for general and specific relevance to your instruction.

Lesson 3 - Creating a Lesson
In this Lesson, you will create a lesson surrounding your "found" RLOs.

Objectives
• You will be able to understand the design principles for creating a pedagogical lesson to surround your found RLO.
• You will be able to create an actual lesson for your found RLO.
• You will be able to describe how the students will interact with your Learning Object.

This project is designed for you to take 5 hours to go through and has been pre-approved for 5.0 clock hours!
