The Wisc-Online Store
As educators, we are always thrilled to find resources available to us that we can use for instruction and the Internet has been a great source of reusable learning objects (RLO). One comment that I hear a lot is can I download the RLO so that I can continue to use it if the site is no longer available. This generally leads to a conversation about copyright, record keeping and a myriad of other discussions. Wisc-online, a popular RLO repository has found a way to surpass this issue with the Wisc-Online Store.
According to their FAQs "The Wisc-Online Store is a new feature and is incorporated into the Wisc-Online Repository. Registered users may now purchase downloads or CDs of learning objects. Purchasing downloads of learning objects allows teachers to have the learning objects available for students off line and not have to be dependent upon an Internet connection. It is the desire of Wisc-Online to freely share the objects on this site; however, the objects are copyrighted and may only be used within the limitations of the Terms and Conditions.
